blue screen
Fatal error display
Blue screen refers to a solid-colored background used in film and video production, allowing editors to replace it with other imagery through compositing—a technique called chroma key.
Green screens now dominate, but blue remains common.
Separately, a blue screen is the error display on a crashed Windows computer, formally the Blue Screen of Death: My laptop blue-screened during the update.
