crossbuck
Railway X marker
A crossbuck is an X-shaped warning sign placed at railroad crossings, typically bearing the words "Railroad Crossing" on its two diagonal boards.
The name comes from the sign's resemblance to a sawbuck, the X-framed support used for cutting wood.
Crossbuck can also refer to any X-shaped bracing or support structure, such as the crossed legs on certain styles of tables or sawhorses.
