cross-counter

Strike over opponent's arm

A cross-counter is a boxing punch thrown over an opponent's incoming blow, typically targeting the head while the opponent is extended and vulnerable.

The counterpuncher slips or parries the attack while simultaneously delivering their own strike across it: He caught him with a perfect cross-counter that ended the fight.

The term appears in boxing analysis and fight commentary.
