countersteering

Push left, go right

Countersteering is a technique for turning a motorcycle or bicycle at speed by briefly steering in the opposite direction.

To turn right, you push the right handlebar forward, which tips the bike leftward and initiates a rightward lean.

The method feels counterintuitive but becomes automatic for experienced riders: You have to countersteer to corner at highway speeds.
