A handbrake turn is a driving maneuver where the driver yanks the parking brake while turning sharply, causing the rear wheels to lock and the car to spin rapidly.
It's a staple of action films and car chases: He executed a perfect handbrake turn and sped off in the opposite direction.
Also called a J-turn or bootleg turn.
