Communist China

Red flag nation

Communist China refers to the People's Republic of China under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party, especially in contrast to Taiwan (the Republic of China).

The term was common during the Cold War to distinguish mainland China from its non-communist rival: Communist China entered the Korean War in 1950.

Today it appears mainly in historical contexts or political rhetoric critical of the Chinese government.
