objectivists

Rational self-interest advocates

Objectivists are adherents of Objectivism, the philosophical system developed by novelist Ayn Rand.

The philosophy holds that reality exists independently of consciousness, that reason is the only means of acquiring knowledge, and that rational self-interest is the proper moral guide.

Objectivists typically advocate laissez-faire capitalism and oppose altruism as a moral duty: The objectivists in the debate club kept citing Atlas Shrugged.
