commandery
Templar administrative unit
A commandery is a district or estate under the control of a commander of a knightly order, particularly the Knights Templar or Knights Hospitaller.
The term also refers to the local chapter or lodge of certain fraternal organizations, such as the Knights Templar branch of Freemasonry: He was inducted into the commandery last spring.
The word carries echoes of medieval military-religious structure.
