colonial house
Traditional American dwelling
A colonial house is a style of American residential architecture derived from designs built during the colonial period, roughly 1600–1800.
The style features symmetrical facades, centered front doors, evenly spaced windows, and often columns or shutters.
Most "colonial houses" today are Colonial Revival—20th-century homes echoing the historical style: They bought a four-bedroom colonial in the suburbs.
