civets
Nocturnal musk mammals
Civets are cat-like mammals native to Africa and Asia, known for their long bodies, pointed faces, and musk-producing glands.
The musk, called civet, was historically harvested for perfume production.
Civets are nocturnal and omnivorous, eating fruit, insects, and small animals.
Despite their appearance, they're more closely related to mongooses than to cats.
