causative

Indicating induced action

Causative describes something that causes or brings about an effect: Smoking is a causative factor in lung cancer.

In grammar, a causative verb expresses making something happen rather than doing it directly—"feed" is causative because it means to cause someone to eat.

The causative form appears in many languages as a distinct verb construction.
