calf strain
Lower leg pull
A calf strain is an injury to the muscles at the back of the lower leg, typically caused by sudden acceleration, jumping, or overstretching.
The strain ranges from minor fiber tears to complete muscle rupture: I pulled up with a calf strain during the sprint.
Common in sports requiring explosive movement—tennis, basketball, running.
