bump-start
Clutch-pop engine revival
To bump-start a vehicle is to start it by pushing or rolling it while in gear, then releasing the clutch once momentum builds—a method used when the battery is too weak to turn the starter motor.
Also called push-start or pop the clutch.
The term extends to jumpstarting anything stalled: The funding bump-started the research project.
