buckboard

Open horse carriage

A buckboard is a simple four-wheeled horse-drawn wagon with a flat wooden platform instead of a body, the floor made of long springy boards that flex over rough terrain.

Common in 19th-century America for light hauling and rural transport: They loaded the supplies onto the buckboard and headed into town.
