brown dwarfs
Substellar massive objects
Brown dwarfs are celestial objects too massive to be planets but too small to sustain the hydrogen fusion that powers true stars.
They occupy a middle ground between the largest gas giants and the smallest stars, glowing faintly from the heat of their formation before slowly cooling over billions of years.
Sometimes called "failed stars."
