hypergiants
Most luminous stars
Hypergiants are the largest and most luminous stars in the universe, exceeding even supergiants in mass and brightness.
These rare, unstable stars burn through their fuel rapidly and exist for only a few million years before exploding as supernovae.
Examples include Eta Carinae and VY Canis Majoris.
The term also applies figuratively to anything of extreme scale or dominance: tech hypergiants like Google and Amazon.
