beta test
Find the bugs
A beta test is a trial of software or a product by outside users before official release.
It follows internal alpha testing and exposes the product to real-world conditions: We're looking for volunteers to beta test the new app.
Beta testers help identify bugs and usability issues that developers missed.
The term extends beyond software to any pre-release trial: The restaurant did a beta test with friends and family before opening.
