barrages

Floods of attacks

A barrage is a concentrated, continuous outpouring of something—originally artillery fire directed at enemy positions, but now more commonly words, questions, or criticism.

The press secretary faced a barrage of questions about the scandal.

The military sense extends to a barrier of sustained fire meant to protect advancing troops or block enemy movement.

As a verb, to barrage someone is to bombard them with an overwhelming quantity of something: Fans barraged the station with calls demanding the song be played again.
