backcrossed
Mated with parent
Backcrossed describes an organism that has been bred back to one of its parents or to an individual genetically similar to a parent.
The technique is used in plant and animal breeding to reinforce desired traits: The hybrid was backcrossed to the disease-resistant parent strain.
Multiple rounds of backcrossing can recover most of a parent's genome while retaining a specific introduced trait.
