autografts
Own-tissue surgical transfers
Autografts are tissues transplanted from one part of a person's body to another part of the same person.
Skin autografts treat severe burns; bone autografts repair fractures.
Because the tissue comes from the patient's own body, there's no risk of immune rejection.
Surgeons harvested an autograft from her thigh to reconstruct the damaged area.
