breast reconstruction
Rebuilding after mastectomy
Breast reconstruction is surgery to rebuild the shape of a breast after mastectomy or other breast tissue removal, typically following cancer treatment.
The procedure may use implants, tissue from elsewhere on the body, or both.
Reconstruction can happen immediately after mastectomy or be delayed: She opted for breast reconstruction six months after her surgery.
