autografting
Transplanting one's own
Autografting is the surgical transplantation of tissue from one part of a patient's body to another.
Skin autografts treat severe burns; bone autografts repair fractures.
Because the tissue comes from the patient's own body, there's no risk of immune rejection: The surgeon harvested skin from her thigh for autografting onto the burned area.
