autobrakes
Automatic deceleration mechanism
Autobrakes are an aircraft system that automatically applies wheel brakes upon landing or during an aborted takeoff.
Pilots select a braking intensity before touchdown—typically low, medium, or maximum—and the system engages without manual input when wheels contact the runway: Set autobrakes to three for landing.
The system improves stopping consistency and reduces pilot workload during critical phases of flight.
