hydraulic brakes
Liquid-powered decelerators
Hydraulic brakes use fluid pressure to transfer force from the brake pedal to the brake pads.
When you press the pedal, it compresses fluid in a sealed system, which pushes pistons against the wheels to slow or stop the vehicle.
Most cars, trucks, and motorcycles use hydraulic brakes because the system multiplies force reliably: The mechanic bled the hydraulic brakes to remove air bubbles.
