arthroses

Degenerative joint diseases

Arthroses is the plural of arthrosis, a term for degenerative joint disease—what's commonly called arthritis.

The word refers to conditions where cartilage breaks down and joints deteriorate: Multiple arthroses affected her spine and hips.

In medical contexts, arthrosis can also simply mean a joint or articulation between bones.
