ankylosis
Bones grow together
Ankylosis is the abnormal stiffening or immobility of a joint, usually from disease, injury, or surgery.
The bones may fuse together, or fibrous tissue may lock the joint in place.
In dentistry, ankylosis occurs when a tooth fuses directly to the jawbone, preventing normal movement or eruption: The X-ray revealed ankylosis of the molar.
