arthrosis
Where bones meet
Arthrosis is a medical term for a joint—any place where bones meet and articulate.
More commonly, it refers to degenerative joint disease, particularly the wearing down of cartilage: The X-ray showed arthrosis in both knees.
In this sense it overlaps with osteoarthritis, though arthrosis emphasizes the structural degeneration rather than inflammation.
