antivenins

Toxin-neutralizing serums

Antivenins are antidotes to venom, typically serums containing antibodies that neutralize the effects of snake, spider, or scorpion bites.

The term is interchangeable with antivenoms, though antivenin is the older form: The hospital kept antivenins for the region's most dangerous snakes.

Produced by injecting animals with small amounts of venom and harvesting the resulting antibodies.
