antitype

Prophetic symbol's realization

An antitype is something foreshadowed by an earlier type or symbol.

The term appears mainly in biblical interpretation, where Old Testament figures or events are seen as prefiguring New Testament fulfillments: Adam is the type; Christ is the antitype.

The word can also mean a person or thing that corresponds to or contrasts with another.
