antiquary
Old things expert
An antiquary is a person who studies, collects, or deals in antiquities and historical artifacts.
The term is somewhat old-fashioned, now largely replaced by antiquarian as a noun: The antiquary spent decades cataloging medieval manuscripts.
Antiquary suggests someone devoted to the past—its objects, documents, and customs—often with scholarly or hobbyist passion rather than purely commercial interest.
