angular resolution
Optical separation ability
Angular resolution is the ability to distinguish between two objects that are close together in the field of view.
In optics and imaging, higher angular resolution means finer detail can be discerned—a telescope with good angular resolution can separate two stars that appear nearly adjacent.
The term applies to eyes, cameras, radar systems, and any device that forms images: The telescope's angular resolution wasn't sufficient to see the moon's surface clearly.
