abyssal
Unfathomably deep down
Abyssal describes the deepest regions of the ocean—the lightless zones below about 4,000 meters where pressure is immense and life takes strange forms: abyssal plains, abyssal fish.
More broadly, it means relating to or resembling an abyss: abyssal darkness, abyssal depths of despair.
The word carries connotations of unfathomable depth and mystery.
