polychaete

Segmented sea worm

A polychaete is a marine worm with bristly appendages along its segmented body—the bristles give the class its name, from Greek for "many hairs." Most live on the ocean floor, burrowing in sediment or building tubes.

Common examples include ragworms, lugworms, and the colorful Christmas tree worms that decorate coral reefs.
