Altamont
Sixties concert tragedy
Altamont most often refers to the 1969 Altamont Free Concert in California, where a fan was killed by Hell's Angels acting as security during the Rolling Stones' set.
The event is frequently cited as the symbolic end of 1960s idealism: Altamont was the anti-Woodstock.
Altamont is also a place name for several U.S. towns.
