William Wordsworth

William Wordsworth was an English Romantic poet (1770–1850) whose work celebrated nature, memory, and common speech.

With Samuel Taylor Coleridge, he published *Lyrical Ballads* (1798), a landmark collection that helped launch English Romanticism.

His best-known poems include "Tintern Abbey," "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud," and *The Prelude*.

He served as Britain's Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death.
