Voyager probes
NASA's farthest travelers
The Voyager probes are two NASA spacecraft launched in 1977 to explore the outer planets.
Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 conducted flybys of Jupiter and Saturn; Voyager 2 continued to Uranus and Neptune.
Both now travel in interstellar space, carrying golden records with sounds and images representing Earth.
The Voyager probes sent back the first detailed images of Jupiter's moons.
