space probe
Robotic celestial scout
A space probe is an unmanned spacecraft sent to explore celestial bodies or regions of space.
Unlike satellites that orbit Earth, probes travel to distant destinations—planets, moons, asteroids, or the outer solar system—transmitting data back to Earth: The Voyager probes have now left the solar system.
Some land on their targets; others fly by or orbit them.
