Thessalonica

Ancient Greek port

Thessalonica is an ancient city in northern Greece, now called Thessaloniki.

In biblical contexts, it's best known as the destination of two New Testament letters from Paul to the Thessalonians.

The city was a major port and commercial center in the Roman province of Macedonia: Paul preached in the synagogue at Thessalonica.
