Themyscira
Hidden Amazon isle
Themyscira is the hidden island home of the Amazons in DC Comics, most famously associated with Wonder Woman.
It serves as a paradise isolated from the outside world, inhabited only by immortal warrior women.
The name derives from Themiscyra, an ancient Greek city said to be the capital of the Amazons.
In popular culture, Themyscira represents a utopian female society: She grew up on Themyscira before coming to man's world.
