Schleiermacher

German romantic theologian

Friedrich Schleiermacher (1768–1834) was a German theologian and philosopher who redefined religion as rooted in feeling and intuition rather than doctrine or morality.

He founded modern Protestant theology and hermeneutics—the theory of interpretation.

His influence extends through theology, philosophy, and biblical studies: Schleiermacher's emphasis on religious experience shaped liberal Christianity.
