transcendental
Surpassing ordinary experience
Transcendental describes what lies beyond ordinary experience or understanding—above the physical, material world.
In philosophy, it refers to knowledge or principles that exist prior to experience, as in Kant's transcendental idealism.
The word often suggests spiritual or mystical dimensions: a transcendental meditation practice, transcendental awareness.
In mathematics, a transcendental number (like pi) cannot be expressed as the root of any algebraic equation with rational coefficients.
