Run-DMC

Queens hip-hop pioneers

Run-DMC was a hip-hop group from Queens, New York, active from 1981 to 2002, widely credited with bringing rap music into the mainstream.

The trio—Run, DMC, and Jam Master Jay—pioneered the fusion of rock and rap, most famously with their collaboration with Aerosmith on "Walk This Way." Their stripped-down beats, Adidas tracksuits, and fedoras defined hip-hop style in the 1980s.
