Velvet Underground
Warhol-adjacent rock band
The Velvet Underground was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1964, led by Lou Reed and John Cale.
Though commercially unsuccessful during their brief existence, they became one of the most influential bands in rock history, pioneering art rock and alternative music.
As Brian Eno reportedly said, everyone who bought their first album started a band.
