Rolling Stones
British Invasion legends
The Rolling Stones are a British rock band formed in 1962, among the most influential and enduring in popular music history.
The name comes from the Muddy Waters song "Rollin' Stone," itself drawing on the proverb about gathering no moss.
The Stones are touring again this summer.
The band's longevity has made them cultural icons spanning multiple generations. (Lowercase rolling stone refers to a restless wanderer.)
