RSVP

Invitation response request

RSVP appears on invitations requesting that guests confirm their attendance.

From French *répondez s'il vous plaît* (please respond), it functions as both noun and verb: Please RSVP by the 15th, We got fifty RSVPs.

The term is standard in event planning and social correspondence. (Lowercase rsvp is a less common variant.)
