no-show

Stood someone up

A no-show is someone who fails to appear for a reservation, appointment, or commitment without canceling: The restaurant had three no-shows Friday night.

Airlines and hotels routinely overbook to compensate for expected no-shows.

The term also works as an adjective: a no-show guest, no-show jobs (positions where someone collects pay without actually working).
