Pepsodent
Tube for teeth
Pepsodent is a brand of toothpaste, introduced in 1915 and once among the most popular in America.
The name combines pepsin (a digestive enzyme, though not actually an ingredient) with the -dent suffix suggesting teeth.
The brand became famous through aggressive advertising and radio sponsorships.
It now persists mainly in international markets, while in American usage Pepsodent sometimes evokes mid-twentieth-century nostalgia: a smile like a Pepsodent commercial.
