Orville Wright

Orville Wright was an American aviation pioneer who, with his brother Wilbur, designed and flew the first successful powered airplane at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in 1903.

Orville piloted the historic first flight, which lasted twelve seconds.

The brothers' methodical approach to aeronautics—building wind tunnels, testing wing shapes—established principles still fundamental to aircraft design.
