Norse sagas
Medieval Nordic narratives
Norse sagas are medieval Icelandic prose narratives recounting the deeds of legendary heroes, Viking explorers, and feuding families.
Written mostly in the 13th and 14th centuries, they blend history with myth: the Saga of the Volsungs, Egil's Saga.
The sagas preserve Old Norse literature and remain foundational texts for Scandinavian history and mythology.
