NVRAM

Powerless memory retention

NVRAM stands for non-volatile random-access memory—computer memory that retains stored data even when power is removed.

Unlike regular RAM, which loses everything when you shut down, NVRAM preserves settings like system clock, boot configuration, and hardware preferences: The BIOS settings are stored in NVRAM.

Common in firmware, routers, and embedded systems.
